Deacon Activities The Deacons have Golden Opportunity Days in May of every year and our theme this year was “Helping Hands and Changing Lives”.
We went to Care Free Living of Bull Shoals. We had a sing along and a discussion about being a Mother, Father or other interesting things about their life. We served cake and coffee to everyone.
We had a Family Night Supper, with Deacons furnishing the main dish and everyone bringing side dishes. We had a Guest Speaker from the Gamma House in Mountain Home.
Each year the Deacons sponsor a project of their choice. This year we sponsored the Gamma House (S.P.A.R.K.S.) It serves people and Restores Kindred Sons and Daughters, Inc. SPARKS is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization formed in January 1991, to meet the needs of others through temporary or transitional housing. In addition to providing shelter, their primary goal is to restore through spiritual, emotional and physical needs, to help people reach their maximum God-given potential and become self-sufficient members of society.
As a church we have trimmed trees, planted flowers and cleaned the yard up. The church has taken a room and has redone the walls, painted, carpeted the room and put curtains on the windows.
